Focus on LAW

Jack F. Stringham, II concentrates his practice in commercial loan transactions, real estate, banking regulation, venture capital and private financings, and general business matters for corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. He has represented both financial institutions and borrowers in commercial loan financings.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1968. After working at Third National Bank and serving in the U.S. Army in Korea as a First Lieutenant, he returned to Vanderbilt University, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1974. During law school, he was active with the International Law Society, serving as the director of the Jessup Cup Competition and on the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law.

From 1977 until 1992, Mr. Stringham worked with First American Corporation, serving as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for both the holding company and its statewide banking subsidiary, First American National Bank. In addition to having responsibility for the corporation’s legal functions, Mr. Stringham was responsible for insurance, risk management and compliance. Mr. Stringham served as a Director of Financial Institutions Reserve, Ltd., a captive directors’ and officers’ insurance company for 17 bank holding companies.

He has served as General Counsel and Secretary of the Frist Center for the Visual Arts since its inception.

Mr. Stringham is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations, and is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He served as Chairman of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Nashville Bar Association and as Chairman of the Corporation and Business Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association.

Mr. Stringham has been active with the Boy Scouts of America at the troop level for many years and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Middle Tennessee Council. He also serves on the Session of First Presbyterian Church and has previously served as a member of the Diaconate. Mr. Stringham has participated in mission trips to Mexico and Kenya with his church. Additionally, he was active in the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce, serving as the Chairman of the Clinic Bowl and being named Member of the Year in 1980. He was also a member of the 1991 Leadership Nashville class.
