Will Cheek named Associate Member of the Year by National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals

Will Cheek was recently named Associate Member of the Year by the National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals (NALCP) at the group's annual conference.  Will serves as legal counsel to NALCP, and has helped the organization develop from a grassroots group into a well-structured nonprofit.

To thank Will for his "time, support and dedication to our organization and our industry," the group made a $1,000 contribution to Mote Marine Lab in Sarasota, Florida, in Will's name.  The gift will be used for eagle ray research, specifically to purchase acoustic transmitters for implanting in these large stingrays.  With the gift, Will and his family have been invited to accompany a Mote research team at sea to observe tagging of the eagle rays.

Will was invited to speak on a guns in bars panel at the 2009 NALCP annual conference.  The issue, currently one of Tennessee's hottest legislative topics, is one with which Will is very familiar, serving as volunteer legal counsel to a coalition of local restaurateurs, bar owners, servers and licensed handgun permit holders in opposition to the law.  The impact of Tennessee's guns in bars embroilment reaches well beyond state borders, effecting the restaurant and hospitality industries on a major, national scale.

Will's newly-launched Guns and Gin shares information and breaking news straight from the front lines of the guns in bars battle.  It has quickly been established by local media and political blogs as the premiere source for all things 'guns in bars.'
