Bone McAllester Norton Helps with Habitat for Humanity’s Annual Home Build
In October 2018, Bone McAllester Norton participated in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville’s annual, eight-day home build to help a local hardworking family take steps toward a better life through the purchase of their own home.
Each build day covers a variety of construction tasks, from raising wall panels and installing windows on day one to finishing the landscaping on day eight. The firm donated the funds and manpower for day six, which included final painting and the installation of kitchen cabinets and countertops.
The homeowners, Gamal Ahmed and Elham Mohamed, have been living in Nashville since 2015 after leaving their home in Sudan due to war and violence. They attended Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership class and worked on the build site to earn a zero percent annual mortgage rate. They will live in their new home with their two young daughters.
From the firm’s beginning, the leaders at Bone McAllester Norton have valued creating a culture founded upon making a difference for good. Bone McAllester Norton’s attorneys partner with more than 130 local organizations, including Habitat for Humanity. Sam McAllester, a founder and vice chairman of the law firm, has been a member of the Finance Community for Habitat since 2012 and currently serves as a member of Habitat’s Board of Directors in Nashville.
